Administrative proceedings that provide an existing Truman Scholar with notice and "an opportunity to be heard" prior to termination of a scholarship, or finding of an obligation for repayment. Termination may be based on, among other things, failure to: follow approved plan of study, make satisfactory academic progress, or file required annual reports. Pursuant to the Foundation's accountability policy, repayment of scholarship funds may also may be pursued if a scholar fails to satisfy post-scholarship public service requirement. (Truman Scholars must work for 3 - 7 years after a Foundation-funded graduate program in public service. (See 45 CFR pt. 1801, subpt. G). Regulations setting forth the Accountability Policy are augmented by procedures posted on the Foundation's website.
