Brief Description of Case Type: 
The second type of case is for suspension of contractors serving the GSA. Suspension results in a government-wide exclusion from participating in contracts and subcontracts, and may be imposed for many of the same causes as debarment. See FAR 9.405. Unlike debarments, suspensions are temporary actions that generally only last up to one year while the DOJ conducts an investigation for any contemplated legal proceedings. The suspension terminates after 12 months have passed from the date of the suspension notice unless the DOJ requests an extension, but in no event can it last longer than 18 months. See FAR 9.407-4.
