Scheme Nickname:
Coast Guard Discharge Review Board

This scheme details the procedures for review of the propriety and equity of administrative discharges from the Coast Guard by a Discharge Review Board (DRB) or by the Secretary of the Department. The Secretary and Commandant retain authority to review and take final action on the DRB's findings. Review is generally only applicable to administrative discharges, though the DRB may review discharges by sentence of a court-martial for the purpose of clemency (only in questions of the equity of the discharge, and if the applicant has exhausted appellate remedies).
