Brief Description of Case Type:
These cases pertain to claims by Federal civilian employees for certain travel or relocation expenses. These generally include two types of claims made against the United States by federal civilian employees: (1) claims for reimbursement of expenses incurred while on official temporary duty travel; and (2) claims for reimbursement of expenses incurred in connection with relocation to a new duty station. 48 CFR 6104.401(b). Such claims are initially filed with the claimant's own department or agency, and appealed to the CBCA if the claimant disagrees with the agency's determination. See 48 CFR 6104.401(c). While these cases normally reach the Board through an appeal by the employee, the agency itself may also request a decision from the Board under 31 U.S.C. 3529 when one of the two types of claims above is presented to it.
