Brief Description of Case Type: 
Formal enforcement proceedings by NSF's Office of Polar Programs to impose civil penalties for prohibited acts under the ACA. Prohibited acts include: taking of native mammal, bird, or plants; introduction of non-indigenous animals or plants; and permit violations. The maximum civil penalty shall is $5,000 per violation unless there is a finding of knowing violation, in which case the maximum civil penalty is $10,000 per violation. Each day of a continuing violation is considered a separate offense.
